Liverpool players looked relieved after beating Sheffield United in the Premier League last night, according to Roy Keane.
Jurgen Klopp’s side beat the Blades 2-0 at Bramall Lane thanks to Curtis Jones’ goal and an own goal from Kean Bryan to end their four-match losing streak in the league.
Aaron Ramsdale pulled off a string of fine saves to keep the hosts level at half-time, but Jones fired into the bottom corner from Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross to give Liverpool the lead.
They doubled their lead when Bryan inadvertently deflected Roberto Firmino’s shot past Ramsdale and the win put an end to a poor run of form, which saw Liverpool lose to Brighton, Manchester City, Leicester and Everton.
Liverpool remain sixth in the Premier League table, with 43 points from 26 games, but former Manchester United midfielder Keane could see what the victory meant to the team at full-time in Sheffield.
“You look at the reaction of the players after the game. A lot of relief, a lot of smiles,” he said on Sky Sport.
“The manager was on the pitch, they were all hugging each other, the subs. It’s the best feeling in the world when you win a game.
“They’ve won a lot of trophies over the last few years, but that will mean a lot to them.
“I guarantee there will be a great atmosphere in that dressing room and it makes the manager’s job a lot easier in terms of trying to pick them up.”
Liverpool are two points behind West Ham in fourth ahead of Thursday’s match against fifth-placed Chelsea at Anfield.
"Plenty of people have written us off. That's fine," said Klopp. "With all the problems we have had we're still around the exciting places.
"This was about us showing we're still there. We play Chelsea on Thursday, we have to show it again. We have to win football games, we know that. There's no way into the Champions League without results."
