Roy Keane and his Hibs next manager 'scepticism' that follows bombshell interview confession

Ambitious Hibernian will reportedly attempt to sell Manchester United icon Roy Keane on their managerial vacancy.

It's understood the 50-year-old has discussed the Easter Road job with his inner circle as he mulls over potentially succeeding former Celtic team-mate Shaun Maloney.

But the Irish Independent state Keane remains sceptical and his reservations stem from the dismissals of both Maloney and predecessor Jack Ross this season.

Hibs owner Ron Gordon is targeting a new manager and Keane appears to be among the leading candidates to usher in a box-office era in Leith.

He turned down the chance to end his 11-year exile as a No.1 in the dugout when he walked away from talks with former club Sunderland earlier this year.

It appears Keane will need convincing if Hibs firm up their interest in the Sky Sports pundit.

And the link with Edinburgh comes fresh off him admitting, for the first time, that he believes his days as a viable candidate to return to the dugout were likely over.

The Irishman - in conversation with Jamie Carragher - stated he was content even if another opportunity didn't present itself.

Speaking to Sport Bible, he said: “I did up until recently, but I almost feel, I think, those days are over for me.

“It’s maybe more of a head job that is the role for me and over the next few years I can’t see a club giving me a real good opportunity to get back into it.

"But I don’t mind that either.

“I’m not fearful of going ‘you might do TV for the next two or three years’, I don’t mind that. I count my blessings, because as you know there are a lot of ex-players looking to get back into it.”
