Roy Keane and Gary Neville give verdicts on Christian Eriksen to Manchester United transfer

Manchester United legends Roy Keane and Gary Neville gave vehemently contrasting views on the possibility of the club signing Tottenham Hotspur's Christian Eriksen.

United were offered the chance to sign the Spurs playmaker — who is now well into the final year of his contract — in the summer but a move couldn't be agreed. Eriksen is said to be keen on a transfer to Real Madrid, though a United move isn't out of the question.

And after Tottenham lost narrowly 2-1 to Liverpool, the Sky Sports pundits discussed his future with Neville adamant that Eriksen would be a good signing for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

"[United would] take him tomorrow," he said. "I think he would [improve them].

"What you're seeing at the moment with Eriksen is a player who is not buying into what's happened. He's disinterested.

"He'll just switch it back on again when he goes to another club. Will Manchester United take him? Will PSG take him? Will Juventus take him? Free? Yes, they will, for free, they will."

Keane disagreed, following Eriksen's poor display for Spurs at Anfield, though he made a cheeky dig at United's recent transfer history and the £52million purchase of Fred, which was been widely derided.

"Not if I was the manager of Manchester United," said Keane when asked if he'd sign Eriksen.

"I think he [Eriksen] will get a move on a free, but I don't think he'd improve those teams, and that's the key for clubs like Man United trying to close that gap.

"He won't make Manchester United better, but having said that Man United bought Fred."
