Roy Keane agrees with Ian Wright about Arsenal's Bukayo Saka after his latest England display

Arsenal's Bukayo Saka made his name on the international stage following his man of the match performance against Czech Republic in England's final group game of EURO 2020.

The 19-year-old put in an impressive display at Wembley, earning praise from fans and pundits alike after showing energy and drive from midfield.

One such run was pivotal to England scoring the only goal of the game, with the Arsenal star picking the ball up in his own half before driving forward into Czech Republic territory, before Jack Grealish provided the cross for Raheem Sterling to score.

Saka was praised by Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate after the game, and he has been lauded by many, with Ian Wright and Roy Keane the latest pundits to have their say on the Hale End product.

Ian Wright speaking on ITV about Bukayo Saka: “He was someone Freddie Ljungberg picked out when he was 17.

“What England fans have seen now is what Arsenal fans have been raving about since he made his debut. He has made 19 assists and has played five positions in that Arsenal side which isn’t easy.”

It is one thing for an Arsenal player to receive praise from the Gunners legend, but it is another to obtain the approval from a former Manchester United captain Keane.

He was quizzed on the Englishman starting against Germany on Tuesday evening and also had words of praise for Saka, but suggests Southgate doesn’t trust the winger just yet.

He said: “He [Bukayo Saka] has stepped up every time you asked him for club and country. It will be interesting to see whether Gareth trusts Saka enough to start him during a knockout game, I'm not sure whether he has gained that trust yet, but we will soon see.”

Wright went on to suggest that his inexperience could be a deciding factor if he starts against Joachim Löw’s side.

Wright said: “That’s the question, maybe inexperience may be a factor. It is not a situation for Gareth where he can't pick him based on ability, but more on whether he fits the formation that he wants to play.”

England have trained with a back three in recent days, with the suggestion that the home side could match up the German system that also play the three-at-the-back system.

The England manager could also stick with what has worked so far with a back four, with Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips sitting just in front.

England and Germany will go head-to-head at 5pm on Tuesday to fight for a place in the quarter-final.
