Roy Keane admits concerns for Premier League season amid continued coronavirus crisis

The longer football's enforced break continues, the more unlikely it is the season will be finished, according to Roy Keane.

The Premier League is suspended until at least April 30.

But that date is set to be put back while social distancing measures remain in place to combat the coronavirus pandemic.

Ex-Manchester United captain Keane wants the season to be completed.

But he has cast doubt on that happening.

He said: “Hopefully we can get some sort of closure and get the games finished.

“But the longer it goes on, I think the less chance that's going to happen.

“As a football person, you'd love to get the games finished, of course. We've been saying that for the last few weeks.

“Obviously the longer it goes on, the more concerned we get, and we have to remind ourselves that the health and safety of people has to be the most important thing.

“You'd definitely love the season to be finished, however that might be, whether it's behind closed doors, play-off games, there's obviously options out there.

“You have to trust the people in charge to try and come up with the right decision.

"But, of course, the health and safety of supporters, players and staff is paramount.

“But because we're footballing people, we love the game and we're passionate about it, of course we'd like to see some sort of closure to the season, and that is by finishing the games if we can.”
