Roy Hodgson provides Wilfried Zaha transfer update amid Arsenal and Everton links

Veteran manager Roy Hodgson has admitted he has no idea if Wilfried Zaha will remain a Crystal Palace player next season with the close of the transfer window just two weeks away.

The 26-year-old said last month he is keen for a new challenge, and it is thought his boyhood club Arsenal would be his preferred move.

With the Gunners closing in on a £72m deal for Lille's Nicolas Pepe , however, the chances of Zaha going to the Emirates appear to be fading, especially with Palace demanding a fee of around £80m.

Everton have become the front-runners to sign Zaha, and the player himself is reportedly open to listening to what the Toffees have to offer.

Speaking to Sky Sports News , Hodgson said he is not sure what the future holds for Zaha, as he has yet to return to the squad following his participation for Ivory Coast in the Africa Cup of Nations.

“He’s dealing with the chairman [Steve Parish]," Hodgson said.

“The chairman’s his link, they know each other very well and get on very well. Most of what's going on with Wilf is going on between him and the chairman and I can’t enlighten you at all.

“What I know, you know. I know it through reading your websites and newspapers that this or that is happening, but I can’t enlighten you at all.”

If he does leave Selhurst Park Zaha will be remembered fondly by Palace supporters. He scored 10 goals in 34 Premier League appearances for the club last season, and at times has almost single handedly dragged the team away from the relegation places.

Although Everton are unable to offer European football Zaha may well be attracted by the ambition of the club, who recently announced plans for a new £500m stadium which could seat up to 60,000 fans.
