Roy Hodgson pinpoints what pleased him most about Crystal Palace's draw with Fulham

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson has praised his players for the resilience they showed against Fulham.

The Eagles earned a point in their final away game of the season as goals from Odsonne Edouard and Joel Ward helped Palace claim a 2-2 draw against Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Edouard had given Palace the lead in the first half of the contest in west London, but two goals from Aleksandar Mitrovic, either side of half time, gave Fulham the lead, only for Ward to pop up with his first goal in four years to rescue a point for the Eagles.

The result means Palace have now taken 17 points from the nine games Hodgson has been in charge of since the manager returned to the club, with five wins and two draws.

And the 75-year-old has praised his players for what they did at Craven Cottage, with the Eagles showing a different side to their game after some free-flowing displays in recent weeks.

"It is crucial in a game of football,” Hodgson said. “It is about winning matches, and players will always like to win matches in a way that suits their style and play.

“In the game last week [against Bournemouth] we had the ball for virtually all the time, and we played some quite interesting football and put together some passing moves.

“That was one week; this was different. It was a more physical game because Fulham are a more physical team with strong and powerful players. You have to learn to cope with that and show resilience to make sure you don’t crumble in those moments.

“We believe that if we can keep going, even though we are not playing the football we dreamt of playing, we can stay in it.

“As the game wears on, there are moments it becomes easier for us to play the football we want to play. That was very much the case in the last 20 minutes when we got the equaliser.”
