Roy Hodgson insists he has no plans to retire as he prepares to become the oldest manager in Premier League history tomorrow.

The Crystal Palace boss will be 71 years and 198 days old when his side travel to Leicester City tomorrow, surpassing the record held by former Newcastle manager Sir Bobby Robson.

Hodgson, who has managed all over the world during his managerial career since taking his first job back in 1976 with Swedish club Halmstads BK, has no plans to slow down just yet.

“I think it is nice to still be working," Hodgson told BBC Sport.

"I have always thought that when the time came to retire I’d know it, I’ll feel it and as yet that time hasn’t dawned on me.

“I am quite happy to take it day by day. I wouldn’t want to continue just for the sake of continuing.

“But when the day comes I hope I’ll take the opportunity to move away gracefully at that moment in time.

“Then I hope I’ll have enough wits about me to dampen my passion and my deep feeling for the game, and learn to live without it.”
