Roy Hodgson makes prediction about Manchester United's Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Roy Hodgson believes Manchester United's summer signing from Crystal Palace Aaron Wan-Bissaka is destined to soon play for England.

The 21-year-old made a huge summer move from Selhurst Park to United and has settled quickly in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side, winning Man Of The Match in the 1-1 draw with Wolves last time out.

And speaking ahead of his side's clash with United at Old Trafford this afternoon, Palace (and former England) boss Hodgson thinks Wan-Bissaka is already in Gareth Southgate's thoughts ahead of a Three Lions call-up.

England also have Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold, Man City star Kyle Walker and new Atletico Madrid signing Kieran Trippier as options in Wan-Bissaka's role.

But Hodgson said: “There’s no reason for me to say he’s not ready, absolutely not. I’m pretty sure Gareth and his selectors are feeding back that this boy’s a good player and, if we need him, this boy’s ready.

“We thought, when he was here, that we were talking about a potential England international right-back at some stage in the future.

"At the moment Gareth has got a lot of competition in that place, but that’s how I would see him developing. I don’t know how soon that will happen."

Hodgson added that he's unsurprised Wan-Bissaka has started so well since signing for United. The youngster won Palace's player of the year award last season in a breakthrough campaign in south London, earning the marquee transfer to Old Trafford.

Hodgson said: “The way he’s settled in so well at United has been not surprising, but very nice to see. It doesn’t surprise me because I know how well he can do, but it’s still not an easy task that he’s accomplished.”
