Roy Hodgson has 'no idea' over Crystal Palace transfer funds

Roy Hodgson has "no idea" how much money he will be given to spend on summer transfer targets but is confident of being supported by Crystal Palace chiefs.

Palace confirmed their Premier League survival last week after beating London rivals Arsenal 3-2 away but followed the result up with a disappointing goalless draw at home to Everton on Saturday afternoon.

The win at the Emirates Stadium was overshadowed by Wilfried Zaha earlier in the week confirming his desire to leave Selhurst Park this summer in a bid to realise his Champions League ambitions.

With just two games left of the season, Hodgson revealed he has a transfer plan in place for the summer but does not know how much money he will receive to sign new players until the campaign officially ends.

"We have to be careful about thinking about what you're going to do in the summer, you can make very wrong decisions if you pay too much attention to that," Hodgson told reporters after the 0-0 draw with Everton.

"We think, as a coaching staff and technical director, we have a pretty good idea about what we're going to do going forward. Nothing today will affect that.

"Some thoughts you think will be confirmed, some you think may be put in doubt. If you start judging our players this late in the season you have to be thinking what have I been doing since early August?

"You're talking to me like I'm Pep Guardiola. I have no idea what finances will be available, what players could leave us and which will definitely stay.

"This is what we need to sort out in the next few weeks. I can't give you answer that top managers give because they have a cheque book in which they say I want this player, search the world and get them.

"Wait until the end of the season, he will let me know then what sort of support that will be. It will be the best possible."
