Roy Hodgson gives transfer update on Crystal Palace's move to sign Spurs man Kyle Walker-Peters

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson has cast doubt over a possible move for Tottenham defender Kyle Walker-Peters, despite admitting that initial contact was made over a deal.

Palace are one of a number of clubs to have been linked with a move to sign the Tottenham full-back, with Premier League rivals Brighton & Hove Albion and Southampton also named as potential suitors.

But despite confirming earlier this month that Palace had made contact with Spurs over the possibility of signing the 22-year-old on an initial loan, Hodgson has said there has been no further progress made on a deal.

Speaking ahead of Palace's trip to face Manchester City this weekend, the Eagles boss said: "Initial contact was made.

Everything you need to know about the January transfer window

"It would have been a good move for us, but I have no idea what Tottenham's intentions are, or what they are thinking about it."

Walker-Peters has found his opportunities limited at Spurs, with just five appearances so far this season for the north London side.

Four of those came during Mauricio Pochettino's time in charge, with Walker-Peters' sole appearance since Jose Mourinho was appointed as head coach coming in the 3-1 defeat against Bayern Munich in the Champions League in December.

Football.london understands that Walker-Peters could be allowed to leave on loan in January, but not before Tottenham had signed a replacement, amid links with Norwich City defender Max Aarons and West Brom's Nathan Ferguson.
