Roy Hodgson delivers James Tomkins injury update after Crystal Palace's defeat at Everton

Crystal Palace have been given fresh cause for concern after James Tomkins went off injured in the defeat against Everton.

It may have been another defeat for Palace as they lost out 3-1 against Everton at Goodison Park, with Bernard, Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin scoring for Carlo Ancelotti's men, while Christian Benteke netted for the Eagles.

But Roy Hodgson was given another worry with James Tomkins going off injured in the second half of the game.

Palace are already depleted defensively, with Mamadou Sakho and Martin Kelly both currently sidelined through injury, leaving Scott Dann and Gary Cahill as the two fit centre-backs at present.

Premier League relegation odds

Tomkins has now added to that, with the former West Ham man going off with a hamstring injury at Goodison Park.

And Hodgson gave an update on Tomkins after the game.

"It could be, we won't know until it is fully assessed," he said, speaking to BT Sport.

"But it is a hamstring injury and I always fear when you get those and that it could be weeks rather than days.

"But of course we won't know until it is properly assessed."

Palace now have a weekend off as part of the winter break introduced by the Premier League, with the Eagles' next game against Newcastle United on Saturday, February 22.
