Roxy Lanes Leeds set to triple in size as bowling bar moves onto the Headrow

By Dave Himelfield

Roxy Lanes is set to triple in size when it moves to a larger venue next year.

The Leeds city centre 10-pin bowling alley and gaming centre will increase the number of lanes from four to 12 when it moves from its current location on Bond Street to a whopping 139 sq m venue at The Light, on The Headrow, in February.

As well as 10 full size 10-pin lanes, the new venue will feature two duckpin (like 10-pin but with smaller pins and three bowls per frame) lanes, shuffle boards, American pool tables, beer pong and two bars selling craft beers, cocktails, pizza and fries.

New for Roxy's Leeds empire is a curling lane where players slide stones down the smooth surface of the lane, aiming for the bullseye. It's normally done on ice but this ice-free version will use an artificial surface.

Joel Mitchell, from Roxy, said: "This is an incredible location, right in the heart of Leeds city centre.

"Whilst the Bond Street venue was a great starting point for us as a brand, it’s now time to up the ante and we’re delighted to be able to expand and offer our customers even more of that Roxy Lanes experience.

"So many people want to catch up with friends or relatives or even have work socials and Roxy Lanes encapsulates that spirit of fun and brings people together.

"It’s a huge venue which has enabled us to add more games and a bigger bar area.
