Roxby Downs teenager dies after being struck by jet ski on Murray River at Murbko

A teenage boy has died after being struck by a jet ski in South Australia's Riverland on Thursday.

Emergency services were called to the Murray River at Murbko, near Blanchetown, at around 2:20pm after a jet ski struck two young swimmers.

A 14-year-old Roxby Downs boy was pulled from the water unconscious but later died at the scene.

Meanwhile, a younger child, who was with the boy, received minor injuries and was taken to hospital as a precaution.

The rider of the jet ski, a 43-year-old Craigmore man, has been charged with aggravated cause death by dangerous driving and aggravated cause harm by dangerous driving.

He was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court in February.

Police said investigations were continuing into the circumstances surrounding the fatality.
