Roxanne Pallett had PTSD therapy following Celebrity Big Brother controversy involving Ryan Thomas

Roxanne Pallett has spoken about receiving therapy for post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) following her controversial appearance on Celebrity Big Brother.

The actor was condemned after accusing fellow housemate Ryan Thomas of punching her during their time on the show, a claim she later said was "wrong".

In one her first major interviews since the incident, Pallett spoke about the public backlash that led her to send a farewell message to relatives, before seeking therapy "for PTSD".

Speaking to The Sun, she said: "I sent a message to my mum, my auntie and my two friends. I was saying sorry and goodbye.

"That was when they all realised I needed urgent help. I went to Scotland the next morning and began EMDR and CBT therapy for PTSD panic disorder."

Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EDMR) is a form of psychotherapy that allegedly helps diminish a patients negative feelings associate with certain past events. Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is verbal therapy that "can help you manage your problems by changing the way you think and behave," according to the NHS.

Ofcom previously reported that Celebrity Big Brother, starring Thomas and Pallet, was the most-complained about TV programme of 2018.

The media watchdog received 27,602 complaints from viewers about the Channel 5 reality TV series - the last series of Big Brotheras the show has been cancelled.
