Roxanne Pallett feared acid attack after CBB punchgate scandal

Roxanne Pallett feared she'd have acid thrown in her face after the Celebrity Big Brother punchgate scandal.

The disgraced Emmerdale, star 36, caused uproar when she falsely accused Ryan Thomas of intentionally punching her in the ribs in an attempt to hurt her while playfighting.

Roxanne says she was diagnosed with PTSD in the wake of the scandal, as she claims she is "more hated than a murderer".

She told Closer : "I had feelings of paranoia, and feared something bad would happen to me. When the phone rang, I’d feel sick.

"If I passed someone on the street, I was convinced they meant me harm.

"I was told that people were saying they wanted to throw acid in my face and that I was more hated than a murderer."

Roxanne said she'd been living as a virtual recluse in the last 10 months since the incident.

Cameras showed how Ryan had actually playfully jabbed her, and she later admitted she'd made a mistake when she watched the footage back.

But the incident that became known as 'Punchgate' left her life in tatters as she faced an unprecedented backlash.

She says that being diagnosed with complex PTSD, regular sessions with a therapist and taking anti-depressants have helped her address what happened on CBB, and her previous struggles.

Roxanne, who ended her whirlwind romance to now-ex-fiancé Lee Walton, 40, and deleted her social media after a barrage of abuse, says she regrets her actions.

She told the mag: "I absolutely regret what happened on the show, one hundred per cent. I got it monumentally wrong, and I’m sorry to Ryan and his family, for the pain I inflicted on him and others who were watching.

"I think it’s important, when you’ve done something wrong, that you immediately hold your hands up and make sure everyone knows you’re sorry."
