17 police cars race to scene of 'rowdy' pub crawl after 999 call

A 'rowdy' pub crawl sparked a major police scene this afternoon after drinkers refused to leave a venue.

Merseyside Police dispatched 17 police cars and Matrix vans to The Cabbage Hall Bar & Grill on Breck Road in Anfield.

It is understood a large 'pub crawl' consisting of around 20 drinkers, were refusing to leave the pub, prompted a call to the emergency services.

The Force Incident Manager told the ECHO: "It was a number of people refusing to leave a pub but they all left."

The ECHO understands Merseyside Police received another report earlier in the day to say the same group had entered another venue on Breck Road and were asked to leave.

The Force Incident Manager added: "A gang [of people] went on a pub crawl and were getting a bit rowdy."

It is understood the group was made up of around 20 men and women, and that the pub crawl was not organised for any particular event.

A spokesman for the force later said: "At 4.45pm we were called to a report a large group were refusing requests from staff to leave the Cabbage Hall pub on Breck Road in Anfield.

"Officers attended and the group began to leave at around 5.20pm and police are no longer in attendance."

It is understood no arrests were made at the scene and that the pub was closed following the police presence.

Photos taken outside The Cabbage Hall show a number of police vehicles lined up around the perimeter of the pub, with witnesses stopping to watch the scene.
