Row over Standard's future

This item from The Independent's diary column, Pandora, is too good not to repeat. It reports that a book launch "erupted" when the Evening Standard editor Veronica Wadley cornered Guardian media writer Cristina Odone, who had predicted "the end" for the Standard. According to the diarist, Wadley "hairdried" Odone who said later: "It was very scary. I looked around for support but everyone had backed away in fear." Wadley's response: "She should check her facts. It is unprofessional to publish tittle-tattle without speaking to me first." (Via The Independent)
