Route closures announced at Nottingham's Island Quarter development works

Latest details on route closures for pedestrians impacted by the ongoing works at The Island Quarter in Nottingham have been released.

Contractor Sir Robert McAlpine has released an update on the access route closures impacted by the ongoing works.

As part of the works on Canal Turn, the stepped access to the east side of the canal towpath from Great Northern Close will be closed from Monday, January 4 for the duration of the build.

Alternative arrangements for accessing the towpath will be in place from that date, including a cycle ramp to mirror the existing provision.

The existing canal verge area – mainly used for fishing – will also remain closed for the duration of the works.

When complete, the leisure destination will feature two restaurants, indoor events space with panoramic views and a rooftop terrace, as well as a newly created public plaza fronting on to the canal basin with disabled access.
