Rotunda hospital under attack after major cyber ransom hits targeting patient records

A Dublin hospital is under attack after a major cyber ransom hits targeting patient records.

The Rotunda is currently battling the huge ransomware malfunction which is impacting all of the hospital's systems and records.

Staff at the Rotunda are working to resolve the issue and all appointments for today have been cancelled. Follow live updates as the situation develops.

There is one exception which allows pregnant patients who are 36 weeks or over to come to the hospital.

It also does not hinder the vaccination programme in the hospital today.

Otherwise, your situation must be urgent or you will most likely be turned away.

The Rotunda will issue updated information as soon as possible on the matter they said.

A statement reads: "The Rotunda Maternity Hospital is experiencing a major ransomware / cyber-attack which is affecting all of the hospital’s electronic systems and records.

"Staff at the hospital are working to resolve the issue.

"All appointments have been cancelled for today Friday 14 May."

The statement continued: "The only exception is for patients who are 36 weeks or over pregnant.

"Otherwise you are asked NOT to attend at the Rotunda unless it is an emergency.

The Rotunda will issue updated information as soon as possible."
