Rotherham United keen on re-signing Sunderland's Bailey Wright after loan spell

Rotherham United are reportedly interested in taking Sunderland's Bailey Wright back to the New York Stadium this summer. Alan Nixon, via his Patreon, claims the Millers want the Australian international to return for a second spell despite his first being interrupted by injuries.

Wright's contract at the Stadium of Light is set to expire at the end of next season so the two parties will need to negotiate an exit fee.

The 30-year-old made just seven Championship appearances for the Yorkshire outfit during his four month stay. He signed for the Millers in the January transfer window but missed ten games of their relegation run in.

Matt Taylor's side finished the campaign six points clear of the drop, despite having one of the lowest budgets in the division, with the Sunderland loanee losing just two of the games he played for the Millers.

Wright has made over 100 appearances during his time at Sunderland and was part of the squad that won the Papa John's Trophy and promotion via the League One Play-Off Final back in 2022.
