Rotherham United boss Paul Warne 'exhausted but over the moon' after win over Nottingham Forest

Rotherham United boss Paul Warne admitted that his players rode their luck in yesterday's victory over Nottingham Forest.

Martin O'Neill's side have severely dented their play-off hopes with defeat in south Yorkshire, leaving them five points adrift of sixth places Bristol City.

It was, however, a positive afternoon for Forest's opponents, who climbed closer to safety at the bottom of the division.

"It was quite an open game and edgy at times for both teams," said Warne. "There wasn't a great deal of quality in the first half. I thought we played a lot better in the second and I am pleased with the win.

Time for Nottingham Forest to 'back up their words with actions' after poor performance

"There were some really good performances. I am exhausted, but over the moon.

"Our lads can't give much more. How well we are competing and how hard we are to play against is testament to the lads.

"We did see the game out quite well in injury time and frustrated them and got free-kicks. When the referee blew it was a joy. The lads will take confidence from this.

"We rode our luck initially but I just had a funny feeling it might be our day."
