Rotarians hand over cheque to community lifesavers

Members of the Rotary Club of Whitburn recently visited the Bathgate Community First Responders group to hand over a donation.

The Bathgate Community First Responders is a charitable organisation set up to offer assistance to the Scottish Ambulance service by attending appropriate 999 calls. It is staffed by volunteers who live or work in Bathgate.

They know that there will be circumstances when the Scottish Ambulance service cannot attend to emergency calls as quickly as they would like.

By combining local knowledge with the training provided by the Scottish Ambulance Service, the Community First Responders will attend to patients and provide Basic Life Support until the Ambulance crew arrives.

Whitburn Rotary Club president John Strang commented “Karen and Stefan spoke to our members about the work they do in our community.

“We are delighted to support the work of this wonderful community organisation”.
