Rossvale boss Iain Diack in "poor manner" claim over EK Thistle compensation bid

Former East Kilbride Thistle boss Iain Diack says it’s rich that the club sought compensation when he moved to Rossvale... because they’ve never paid him a penny.

Diack says he did nothing wrong when he moved to the West of Scotland League Premier Division club, and that Thistle handled the situation badly.

The Showpark club claimed Diack was under contract as manager and tried to get compensation from Rossvale.

Diack wishes Thistle well, but says he’s ambitious as a coach and is disappointed with Thistle's conduct over the situation.

He said: “I did nothing wrong, I’m a coach, a manager, who has ambitions to do well in football, just the same way I did as a player.

“When a team like Rossvale, who have an academy, are well run, and in the top league, come in for you it’s a no-brainer for a coach.

“It was disappointing the way East Kilbride Thistle conducted themselves.

“I think it was something to do with compensation and that has to do with being out of a monetary value of something – well, they’ve never paid me a penny.

“I don’t think I did anything wrong.

“They didn’t take it very well, they tried to get money from Rossvale, and conducted themselves in a poor manner.

“But it’s behind us now. I’m quite happy where I am, and good luck to them as well.”

Diack’s Rossvale lost 3-2 at Rutherglen Glencairn on Saturday, despite two late strikes from Hugh Kerr, but the gaffer feels they’re moving in the right direction.

He said: “We only had 13 players when we came in, and the season had started, so trying to get players in has been difficult.

“Slowly but surely as the weeks have gone on we’ve started to get players in, we’ve got quite a few under-20s coming on, and there’s a lot of potential there.

“Now, we seem to have a bit of momentum and I can’t fault any of my players for their effort and what they give us every week.”
