Ross Wylie goes for GT Cup glory

SCOTS race ace Ross Wylie begins his GT Cup campaign with David Mason this weekend as the pair step up the momentum in their new Ferrari 488 Challenge.

The move follows three years in the Britcar series, with plenty of podiums and success at the highest level.

They have decided to notch the pressure up a level and are focusing on the GT Cup while only contesting certain Britcar events as the two series clash during the year.

Ahead of this weekend’s Donington meeting, Wylie, 27, of Thornhill, Dumfriesshire, said: “I’m really looking forward the 2019 season, which will be a different challenge for David me.

“We’re racing a Ferrari 488 Challenge car for the first time and while we’ll be doing selected Britcar races again, we’re trying our luck in the GT Cup for the first time.

“We love Britcar but David wants a new challenge and that’s what the GT Cup offers. The new series will be very tough and it’ll take us time to find our feet.”

The pair will do only four Britcar events this year but they have upgraded from a Ferrari 458 to a 488. Ross added: “We raced a Ferrari 458 last year and the 488 has significantly more horsepower but much less downforce, making it a completely different beast to drive.

“The FF Corse team thankfully has a lot of experience running and engineering the 488 and I am confident that we will be challenging for race wins in both championships this season.”
