Ross Wilson to be unveiled by Rangers in next 24 hours after agreeing finer details of move

Rangers expect to unveil Ross Wilson as their new Director of Football in the next 24 hours after agreeing a deal with Southampton for his release.

The Ibrox club have secured their number one target to replace Mark Allen, who left the role last month.

Wilson turned the job down two years ago but will now be appointed to work closely alongside Rangers gaffer Steven Gerrard .

Mailsport understands the finer details of their bid to snare the 36-year-old were completed over the weekend and Wilson will now return to Scotland.

He’s previously held similar positions at Falkirk, Huddersfield and Watford before moving to Premier League outfit Southampton .

Gerrard made contact with Wilson last week as Rangers made their move and Rangers hope to announce him as Allen’s replacement by Monday.

Allen left the club in September, citing family reasons and a desire to explore other opportunities.

The former head of Manchester City's academy was behind the move to bring Steven Gerrard to Ibrox as boss.

He oversaw two busy summer transfer windows, culminating in the £7million signing of Ryan Kent from Liverpool on deadline day in August.
