Ross Wilson thrilled by 'Rangers identity' as he pays tribute to Ibrox next generation on title success

Ross Wilson is thrilled by the "Rangers identity" building in the club's title-winning U18 side.

The Ibrox prospects have racked up a third consecutive league success which will ensure they again play in the illustrious UEFA Youth League next season.

Youth football has been hit hard by the pandemic but sporting director Wilson is heartened by the resilience shown by the group after they were confirmed as champions on Saturday with victory over St Mirren.

And he hopes Steven Gerrard's first team will soon reap the benefits.

He said: “I’m delighted to extend my congratulations to our U18 team following the lads lifting a third consecutive league championship trophy.

"I am particularly pleased for this group of players as this season has been an extremely difficult one given the impact of coronavirus forcing them to spend large periods at home at a crucial part of their careers and in their development.

"We have been really pleased to see that Rangers identity developing.

"Furthermore, we have a desire to keep challenging the development of our young players through a varied games programme.

"We again can look forward to the excellent challenge of the UEFA Youth League in 21/22 for a third year in a row.”
