Ross Wilson makes Rangers 'highest standards' pledge as he reveals key improvements at club

Sporting director Ross Wilson has outlined some of the key improvements made behind the scenes at Rangers in recent weeks.

Wilson, who joined the club ten months ago, says a lot of work has been going in to ensuring the "highest standards" in all areas of the club.

He pointed to the fact that new pitches have been put down at Ibrox and at the Auchenhowie training base, while other developments have been made to the areas used by the first-team squad.

He told Rangers TV : "When I joined last November one of the things I said was Rangers was always synonymous with having the highest standards we possibly can, and making sure we can be the best we possibly can in every area.

"Whether you're talking about myself or the manager since the day he walked in the door, I think everything we do, whether it's the new dressing room we unveiled for the last home game which still maintains all the traditions of Rangers, and all the tradition and history that's been part of that dressing room is still in there, we've just modernised it slightly for our players. The new tunnel today, our new pitch here at Ibrox, the new pitches at the training ground, constantly updating everything we've got there.

"We're also taking that forward with some new people joining us as well as we expand our scouting and recruitment team, expand our medical and sports science team, to make sure we've got the highest level of people we can to make sure we can be the best as we can on the pitch, where it really matters at the end of the day."

Wilson said that he's happy with the work that's already been done in the transfer market, but admits they are still on the lookout for new players.

He added: "[We're] really pleased. We went in with a clear plan. But the plan's not finished yet. Steven has gone on record yesterday to say that we are still in the market, we are still looking to enhance the squad. But we'll only do so if we think it's the right player, or right players, who can come in and move the squad forward.

"We are open minded. We do want to add. We know what we want to add, but we'll only do so if it's a deal that's right for Rangers."
