Ross Taylor funding page smashes target as hundreds pitch in to support family of tragic dad

A funding page set up for the family of tragic Midlothian dad Ross Taylor has smashed its target.

More than £5000 has been raised in just two days after more than 250 people pitched in with their support.

A body was found in the search for the 30-year-old near Crichton Castle, Pathhead, on Friday afternoon.

Mr Taylor had been missing from his home in Mayfield since last Sunday (31 March) and police issued a public appeal for information in a bid to trace him.

After the discovery was made his partner Laura D'Arcy posted Ross Taylor's family lead tributes after body found in woods on Facebook, describing Ross as "the most caring and sensitive guy, and the perfect daddy and partner".

The Go Fund Me page, which was created on Friday, is aimed at "raising funds for Ross Taylor's family to ease any stress at this difficult time".

A number of people used the page to share their own tributes.

Lysette Halliday posted: "Saddened by the loss of such a young life and so, so sorry for his partner and family. May his soul be at peace."

Lynsay and Gary Ward added: "Devastated to hear about Ross. Hopefully some money towards a good send off and helping Laura and the kids find their way."

Louise Mitchell commented: "Utterly heartbreaking. Sending love to you all."

After Ross was reported missing a major search operation was launched before his partner Laura made an emotional appeal to try and trace him on Wednesday.

The following day police released CCTV of the dad spotted in a nearby village, and a body was found on Friday.

It has also been reported that Ross' son Lewis underwent surgery earlier this year after being born with a heart defect.
