Ross Noble's Newcastle tour dates invite fans to come and play

Geordie fans of local favourite Ross Noble will be encouraged to be in on the game when the comedian returns to his home city for three dates on his new UK tour.

The award-winning stand-up star and actor is bringing his Humournoid tour to the O2 City Hall in Newcastle from May 21-23 which promises plenty of his trademark free-wheeling - and occasional surreal - flight of fancy.

And the upcoming show seems set to be like play-time for grown-ups.

Noble is always off-the-cuff so, even though his Newcastle dates come towards the end of his April to May tour, we can be assured that no two shows will be the same.

Noble, whose acting roles include a hit performance in Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein , said: "I like that white-hot heat of being in the moment.

20 gigs that rocked Newcastle in the 1970s and 80s

"So even if an idea was good, I won’t repeat it exactly the same because that’s last night’s thing - I’ll just take the essence of it and do something new with it.

"I get distracted quite easily. Whatever’s in my head tends to dance to the front. When my show’s at its best I think it’s when my brain is open to anything."

He said he thinks he's at his best on stage when playing and that this should be at the heart of everything.

The dad-of-two added: "If I say to my kids 'tidy your room'  they won’t. If you go 'let’s see how many socks we can throw across the room into that laundry basket' you get the tidying done and everyone’s had fun.

"I think that might be the secret of happiness: just turn everything into a game."

Noble's UK leg comes on the back of a tour in Australia as well as dates in New York and Los Angeles. He describes it as a shorter than usual tour of what is "pretty much a list of all my favourite venues".
