Rangers star Ross McCrorie is set to seal a switch to English League One side Portsmouth.
Record Sport understands the English League One side are in pole position to land McCrorie on a season long loan deal and that Pompey have also requested an option to buy the player.
McCrorie and his representatives will fly to the south coast on Friday in a bid to try and thrash out some sort of an agreement.
Fratton Park boss Kenny Jackett is a long-term admirer of the Scotland Under-21 midfielder.
Jackett is extremely keen to add the Rangers man to his ranks as Portsmouth eye up a promotion tilt which they hope will lead them back to the English Championship.
The 21-year-old made his first-team debut under former Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha two years ago and made 30 appearances for Steven Gerrard’s side last term.
However the former Liverpool and England midfielder revealed he was open to the idea of sending McCrorie out on loan.
Gerrard insisted that he would struggle to offer McCrorie a diet of regular first team football and the youngsters game time would be severely limited due to the return of Steven Davis, as well as the arrival of former Charlton star Joe Aribo this summer.
The Light Blues are well stocked in the midfield area with the likes of Greg Docherty, Ryan Jack, Glen Kamara and Scott Arfield also vying for coveted slots in Gerrard’s starting XI.
McCrorie has previously enjoyed loan stints with both Ayr United and Dumbarton.
