Rangers youngster Ross McCrorie has been left in limbo as Portsmouth wait to discover whether they can resume the season.
So far there has been no agreement on how to end England's League One season, but it's expected that the campaign will be called to a halt.
That would leave Portsmouth facing a play-off with Oxford, Fleetwood and Wycombe.
It's not yet clear when that will be though, and McCrorie's season-long loan from Rangers expires on June 30.
While Pompey are keen to extend that, the Scottish Premiership season is scheduled to resume on August 1 and the 22-year-old may have to link up with Steven Gerrard's squad.
Manager Kenny Jackett told The News : "There are individual situations but we are planning and working with them to be here if possible.
"That is what they want as well. Ross McCrorie is back in Portsmouth and he wants to be involved with us if he can.
"It's hard to phone people up if you can't tell them what period they are actually needed for.

"Everybody can see that but we will see and try to make the right decisions with our players going forward."
McCrorie has so far made 55 appearances for Rangers across all competitions, scoring twice.
