Ross McCrorie in Rangers dilemma as Portsmouth ready permanent transfer solution

Rangers are likely to receive a bid for on-loan star Ross McCrorie as Portsmouth look to make the move permanent when football gets back up and running.

The Ibrox academy product has made 22 appearances for the League One club and has clearly impressed.

Initially seen as a central defender or midfielder, the 22-year-old has been converted into a right-back where his pace and aggression can be best utilised in the hurley burly of the English third tier.

And Steven Gerrard will now have a major decision on his hands in deciding if the fans' favourite has a future with his boyhood heroes.

McCrorie still has two years left of his Ibrox deal, having signed a new contract two years ago, along with brother Robby, with the keeper also on a loan deal, with Livingston.

But Pompey chief executive Mark Catlin has revealed he wants to tie up all four of their loan players, including McCrorie, on permanent deals at Fratton Park once the current crisis has passed.

He said: "I think all of those four lads, in common with the team, have done really well this year. If the league continues, in regard to the contracts, all of that needs to be thought about.

"As loan players, their contracts tend to end on a certain date that was deemed to be the end of the season. Now it's not the end of the season, potentially.

"All of that is still up for review at a much higher level than just Portsmouth Football Club. That applies for all clubs.

"The key to it all is really keeping the PFA involved, which I believe the Premier League, EFL and FA are doing. They need to be on board with each and every decision made to be able to get it across to their members."
