Ross Houston targets Bellator success after becoming latest Scot to join roster

Former Cage Warriors champion Ross “The Hitman” Houston has joined fellow Scots Chris Bungard, Robert Whiteford and Chris Duncan on the Bellator MMA roster.

He signs penning a multi fight contract with the leading mixed martial arts promotion.

Inverness based Houston is currently undefeated in nine professional fights and will compete in Bellator’s welterweight division, a weight class that he ruled as champion during his time with Cage Warriors.

Now, the 28-year-old is eager to show the world what he can do on the world stage.

Houston said: “After parting ways with Cage Warriors I had offers from a few promotions but I wanted to sign with a promotion that would put me on the biggest stage, and that’s what Bellator can do for me.

“I think the welterweight division is the most stacked on the roster and there are loads of big and exciting fights out there for me and that’s exactly what I want.

“I have shown as Cage Warriors champion that I am the number one welterweight in Europe, but I’m ready to go to the next level now and start smashing these other welterweights to cement my name amongst the international elite level”.

Houston made waves on social media last month by calling out one of Bellator’s most notable and exciting fighters, Michael ‘Venom’ Page, and that is exactly the sort of ambition that will be music to any matchmaker’s ears.

Houston said: “My mindset has always been to take big fights, it doesn’t really matter who is put in front of me.  How I prepare for fights, my heart, the skill level that I have and I believe I have got the strongest mindset in all of MMA, so whoever is put in front of me, no matter what their record is, I am going to be confident I will beat them on fight night.

“I will prove that I am not just the best welterweight in Europe, but one of the best on the planet, and I can’t wait to get started”.
