QUITE aside from being the only newspaper supporting the same position on Scotland’s independence as half the population, The National has made a simply incredible contribution to public life in its fearless coverage of Israel’s genocidal assault on Palestine.
It should not be the case that just one newspaper in the whole of the UK has consistently and accurately reported on the apartheid state and its campaign of ethnic cleansing, but that is the reality.
Without The National not a single mainstream publication would have reported on the many ways in which the UK Government is directly complicit in these war crimes.
And no other publication has used its own platform to fundraise for Medical Aid for Palestinians or other charities doing lifesaving work. At a time when finances are tight in print media, asking their readers to put their money elsewhere was a genuinely noble thing to do.
The National may, thankfully, be the newspaper of the Scottish independence movement, but in its coverage of British complicity in Israel’s crimes, the paper has performed a public service to the whole of the UK and to the people of [[Palestine]].
