Ross County decimated as virus wipes out TEN players to leave Livingston clash in doubt

Ross County's match at Livingston on Saturday is in doubt with a winter vomiting bug having ravaged the squad.

The outbreak of Norovirus has left the Staggies with only eight fit senior players, including two goalkeepers.

Training on Thursday was cancelled after the scale of the sickness bug became apparent on Wednesday evening, with the remaining fit players sent home.

Ross County co-manager Steven Ferguson said the club was monitoring 10 players stricken by the debilitating virus that can take 72 hours to clear.

They also another four first team players, on top of the 10, out injured – Michael Gardyne, Tom Grivosti, Ross Draper and Don Cowie.

On top of those, nine of the club’s development squad are out on loan and prohibited from being recalled for the first team.

It is understood the club could request the Premiership meeting with Gary Holt 's side at the Tony Macaroni Stadium be postponed if there is no improvement by Friday morning.

Ferguson said: “We’re decimated. We’ve had to cancel training today.

“We’re going to need to assess what happens. Out of the squad of 22 fit players we work with we’ve eight – and two of them are goalkeepers.

“We have a huge problem. I don’t know what the rules are, but that’s the situation. Our secretary will look into that.

“As it stands, it seems to have ripped right through us.”
