Ross County beating Celtic means Motherwell 'are in a fight' says former boss

Former Motherwell boss Stuart McCall says his old side are in a real relegation dog-fight after Ross County's shock 1-0 win over Celtic on Sunday.

Jordan White's header gave the Staggies all three points in Dingwall, moving them up to 10th place on 26 points, with Hamilton and Kilmarnock locked in the bottom two spots, two points behind.

Motherwell are directly above County by two points, and McCall, who was Fir Park gaffer from 2010-14, reckons it will go down to the wire.

Speaking to Sky Sports, McCall said: "They're certainly in a fight, there's no doubt about that, with the teams at the bottom, Ross County, Kilmarnock also in that, and Hamilton, naturally.

"I think when Graham [Aexander] went in early on he got a couple of decent results. Last week's result against Hamilton, local rivals, to get beat 4-1 at home, although down to 10 men, but I think St Johnstone deserved enormous credit for Saturday's performance, they were excellent, won 3-0 and it was a good 3-0.

"Motherwell, the key for them is that they've got some important players to come back in the side and like anything, if you're missing key players that's a huge thing, so if they can get players back they will get better results, I'm sure.

"You look at Ross County, they've beat three out of the top four, and then Hamilton one week will pull a result out.

"They'll go into the split and it depends on how they do against each other, but Kilmarnock, with eight losses, Tommy's got a big job on there but he's got games coming up that he will hope to win."
