Ross Callachan to sign for Ross County after leaving Hamilton Accies

Ross County are close to completing the signing of Ross Callachan after he departed Hamilton Accies.

The Staggies have won the race for the 27 year-old midfielder despite strong interest from other Scottish Premiership clubs and English sides.

Callachan will commit his long-term future to County by signing a three-year deal and official confirmation is expected within the next few days.

It's understood that the Dingwall side's new boss Malky MacKay is a huge admirer of the former Hearts man and he was determined to sign the talented midfielder.

Lanarkshire Live exclusively revealed yesterday that Callachan has activated a relegation clause in his contract which allowed him to leave for free after Hamilton were relegated to the Championship.

Callachan scored ten goals for Accies last season after boss Brian Rice entrusted him to perform at the highest level after a disappointing couple of seasons with injuries and a lack of minutes.

He was unable to prevent Hamilton avoiding relegation and Callachan had his heart set on remaining in the Scottish Premiership.

There was no truth to rumoured interest from Hearts and Livingston and Callachan will be playing for Ross County next season.
