Ross Barkley sends message to Tom Davies after Everton win over Tottenham Hotspur

Ross Barkley told Tom Davies he was 'quality' following his performance in the Everton win over Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup fifth round on Wednesday.

The back-and-forth FA Cup fifth round tie saw momentum shift between both sides before Bernard eventually won it for the Blues in the seventh minute of extra-time.

And while it appears that Everton players have a new nickname for the midfielder, Barkley was quick to praise the 22-year-old.

Taking to Instagram after the game, Davies wrote: “Everton aren’t we!!” followed by three blue heart emojis.

Barkley replied: "Quality" with a clapping emoji with team-mate Ben Godfrey also writing: “General.”

While striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin added on his own personal story: "Tom Davies. AKA general. Aka man of the match. Aka my best mate."

Speaking after the victory at Goodison Park, assistant manager Duncan Ferguson said: "Tom was great tonight and he did really well at Old Trafford as well.

"He's starting to really perform well on a consistent basis.

"He's moving in the right direction."
