Ross Barkley sends message to Everton full-back Lucas Digne during Wolves win

Ross Barkley's Everton departure may have left a bad taste in the mouth of some fans - but that has not stopped him keeping a close eye on his former club.

The England international is currently on a season-long loan at Aston Villa - and recovering from injury.

On Tuesday night, it seems he was watching Everton's Premier League fixture with Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.

And he was particularly impressed with French full-back Lucas Digne.

"Lucas Digne, wand of a left foot," Barkley posted on Twitter.

Digne provided the assist for Alex Iwobi to give Everton an early lead against Wolves, in the sixth minute.

According to Opta, it was Digne's 16th Premier League assist.

Wolves equalised after 14 minutes through a well-worked goal, finished off by Ruben Neves.

Take our 30-second Everton transfer survey and let us know what Carlo Ancelotti needs to do in the January window.

Everton regained their lead in 77th minute when defender Michael Keane struck to make it 2-1.
