Ross Barkley opens up on what it means to score against Liverpool after Chelsea win

Ross Barkley admitted it's a "dream" to score against Liverpool after his goal helped Chelsea knock the Reds out of the FA Cup.

The Evertonian bagged Chelsea's second in a 2-0 victory at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night, as the Blues progressed to the last-8 of the competition at Liverpool's expense.

Barkley charged through the centre of the Liverpool midfield and went unchallenged as Fabinho watched the Englishman glide past.

After getting himself into a shooting position, Barkley opened his body up and smashed the ball past Adrian from just outside the area.

Reflecting on his goal after the match, Barkley said: "Scoring against Liverpool is massive for me. As an Everton fan, it’s always a dream to score against them."

Billy Gilmour has represented Chelsea just six times this season, and was a surprise starter for the Blues on Tuesday.

But the 18-year-old Scot proved he wasn't fazed by the magnitude of facing Liverpool, and put in a man of the match performance.

Barkley said of Gilmour: "Billy was brilliant. But it was not a surprise to me. I've seen him in training and he was like that in training last season.

"It was brilliant, a massive result for the lads. We needed a top performance tonight at home after two disappointing results."
