Ross Barkley hails Billy Gilmour as Chelsea duo talk win over Liverpool in FA Cup

Chelsea stars Billy Gilmour and Ross Barkley have opened up on their side's impressive 2-0 win over Liverpool in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Willian scored the opener after a mistake from Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian, who fumbled the ball into the back of his own net.

But it was Gilmour who was the star of the show in the first half and earned a rave review from former England star turned pundit Alan Shearer.

Ross Barkley then took centre stage in the second half as he ran from deep and fired home from outside the box.

FA Cup Preview: Chelsea v Liverpool

Both Gilmour and Barkley were interviewed post-match by the BBC and had some interesting things to say.

Gilmour told the BBC: "It was a good match. I have been training very hard to get this chance.

"They're top players (BBC pundits) and for them to say that is amazing for me. But I've got to keep working."

Former Everton midfielder Barkley added his thoughts on the game and Gilmour, as well as adding what it felt like to score against Liverpool.

"Scoring against Liverpool is massive for me supporting Everton and having been a player for the club," Barkley added.

"It was brilliant and a massive result for the lads. We needed a top performance at home and it was a good result.

"Today he (Gilmour) was brilliant. It's not a surprise to me. He showed that with the little chances he's had.

"Hopefully we can get some trophies at the end of the season."
