Rosie O'Donnell leaves The View

So after three tumultuous years co-hosting ABC's chatshow The View, comedian Rosie O'Donnell leaves as she arrived, in a storm of controversy. Rosie did what ABC required of her - push up ratings - but in the process she became one of the most vilified people on American TV, often leaving her co-host Barbara Walters looking appalled and browbeaten. Fox News repeatedly demanded that ABC sack her, and now that she has left it is claiming a victory for American values.

So, too, is the entrepreneur Donald Trump, whom Rosie took almost any opportunity to harangue, insult and laugh at. For his part Trump, who hosts the US version of The Apprentice, has called Rosie "fat" and "ugly". Even the Chinese rapper Jin has joined in, on behalf of Trump, providing a gruesomely vitriolic rap to celebrate Rosie's televisual demise.

The story, which has succeeded in knocking Iraq war-funding off the top of the news agenda, is whether Rosie jumped or was pushed. What do you think?
