A body has been found during an investigation into the disappearance of 22-year-old Rosie Johnson on the Isle of Wight, Hampshire Police have said.

The force said the death was not being treated as suspicious.

It said formal identification procedures were underway, but Ms Johnson’s next of kin had been informed of the discovery.

Ms Johnson, from Glasgow, is believed to have disappeared without a phone or money on Sunday evening.

She was last seen at the PGL Little Canada activity centre in Wootton, where she worked as a field studies instructor.

Police officers and volunteers have been carrying out extensive searches of the area following the disappearance of Ms Johnson, who is the niece of Daniel Johnson, Scottish Labour MSP for Edinburgh Southern.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Police said: “Officers searching for missing Rosie Johnson on the Isle of Wight have found a body of a woman in Wootton this afternoon.

“Formal identification procedures are ongoing but Rosie’s next of kin have been made aware of the discovery.

“At this stage, the death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.”
