Rosie Atkins: Family of tragic Edinburgh mum killed in flat fire raising money for 'best send off'

An appeal has been launched to help a family left devastated after a horror fire which killed young mum Rosie Atkins.

Rosie Atkins, 28, was killed in a blaze at her home in Oxgangs Park last week, leaving her family, including three young sons, devastated.

In an emotional tribute, locals have been asked to help the family cover the funeral costs following the tragedy.

Organised by Rosie's brother Jack, money raised will be used to cover the costs of a burial, which her family hope will give her children somewhere to visit.

Any extra money raised will be placed into a trust fund for her children, Joshua, 14, Mylo, 8, and Charlie, 6.

Explaining how the family were "unprepared" for the costs of a funeral, Jack said: "I have decided to set up this go fund me page to give Rosie the best send off possible so that my nephews always have somewhere to go and spend time with their mummy for as long as they can."

"Rosie was only 28 and had her whole life ahead of her, leaving behind her 3 beautiful sons Joshua aged 14, Mylo aged 8 and Charlie aged 6.

"She was such an amazing sister, mother, daughter, aunt and friend to her closest and dearest of people around her, she was doing her and all of us proud," Jack wrote.

He continued: “We will never ever be the same without her. We will miss her for all eternity, we will miss her infectious laugh, her beautiful bright eyes and potent smile and caring attitude towards everything and everyone she loved.

"We would do anything to have you with us Rosie and until we meet again we promise to take care of the boys for you.

"We will celebrate every birthday and most of all celebrate your life with us as a wonderful daughter, amazing sister and most of all a fantastic mum.”

So far nearly £800 of the £2,500 target has been raised by generous locals.
