Rosemary Conley CBE to share her business story at virtual networking event

Celebrity diet and fitness expert Rosemary Conley CBE will be sharing her story at a Leicestershire networking event this month.

The county-base entrepreneur will be talking about the 10 key things she has learned in almost half a century of business at the September 25 meeting of The Circle Club.

She will be joined by Marie Ellis, Circle Club member and founder of Leicester’s Elite Accounting, for the free, interactive networking Zoom, which runs from 9am-11am.

The session will be hosted by Circle Club founder Alexandra Slack. It is run by The House of Lifestyle Management, in partnership with LeicestershireLive.

Rosemary Conley became a regular figure on TV after launching a low-fat diet plan in the 1980s, her Hip and Thigh Diet.

It captured the attention of the nation, and the book and its sequel, Rosemary Conley’s Complete Hip and Thigh Diet, sold more than two million copies.

In the subsequent decades she and husband and business partner Mike Rimmington launched Rosemary Conley Diet & Fitness Clubs, a franchise operation, with 170 exercise teachers running 2,000 weekly classes across the UK for more than 70,000 members.

In 1996, the Rosemary Conley Diet & Fitness magazine was launched and from 1996 to 2000 she was a consultant to Marks & Spencer and helped them to develop their low fat, calorie-controlled food range.

She presented her own TV series on BBC and ITV as well as appearing on ‘This Morning’ with Richard and Judy for seven years, and appeared on ITV1’s Dancing on Ice.

Angela Padfield, regional business development manager for LeicestershireLive and BusinessLive parent company Reach Plc, said: “The Circle Club is more than just an ordinary networking group.

“We are a community. We add value to the members’ businesses through expert clinics.

“We support each other at times where you can actually feel quite isolated in your business. The Circle Club helps businesses to grow and flourish.

“Personally, I’ve been introduced to some great people who are now both friends and clients now.

“Rosemary has had quite a colourful business past.

“She’s a fantastic speaker and we look forward to hearing her take on her business lessons throughout the last 50 years.”
