Rose McGowan slams Meryl Streep over the way she described Harvey Weinstein's alleged sexual misconduct

Rose McGowan isn't impressed with Meryl Streep's condemnation of disgraced filmmaker Harvey Weinstein.

McGowan _ who accused Weinstein of raping her in 1997 _ called out Streep after the actress described Weinstein's alleged sexual misconduct as "the most gargantuan example of disrespect."

"No, Meryl, IT'S A F _ -ING CRIME," McGowan tweeted Friday. "You are such a lie."

Streep made the comments a day earlier while speaking at The Massachusetts Conference for Women, which took place in Boston.

Dozens of women have come forward in recent months to accuse Weinstein of sexual harassment, sexual assault or rape.

Streep previously called Weinstein's alleged behavior "inexcusable" in a statement in October, while asserting she was unaware of the accusations again him.

"I didn't know about these other offenses: I did not know about his financial settlements with actresses and colleagues; I did not know about his having meetings in his hotel room, his bathroom, or other inappropriate, coercive acts," Streep said in the statement to The Huffington Post at the time.

Weinstein produced "The Iron Lady" and "August: Osage County," which Streep starred in. Streep jokingly referred to Weinstein as "God" during her acceptance speech for "The Iron Lady" at the 2012 Golden Globes.

Streep has also received backlash in the past for standing and clapping for Roman Polanski at the 2003 Academy Awards. Polanski served a short jail sentence after pleading guilty to raping a 13-year-old girl in 1977, and left the country to avoid a lengthier sentence.
