Rose and Giovanni's special Strictly dance was 'too early' says former pro star James Jordan

It has been hailed as one of Strictly Come Dancing's greatest ever dances as Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice stunned BBC One viewers with their couple's choice dance on Saturday.

EastEnders actress Rose had promised something for the deaf community and she delivered a powerful performance that saw the music cut out as the pair danced in silence before Clean Bandit featuring Zara Larsson's song Symphony restarted.

But former Strictly pro and Dancing on Ice champion James Jordan said there was one issue with the dance - he thinks it should have been saved.

Writing for Hello! magazine, Jordan, who was in Strictly from 2006 to 2013, said: "I would have saved that dance for the final."

Saying it was a "special moment" that deserved the praise it got, he added the impact on the audience couldn't be recreated again.

There was agreement on twitter, with twitter user Sid writing: "My only complaint is Rose and Giovanni didn’t save that for their Showdance."

While HŸDE @thenameishyde said: "If Rose is in the final (as surely she must be), I hope we get an entirely silent show dance."

The judges were as moved by the audience by the couple's dance, with head judge Shirley Ballas saying: "It will be etched in my heart for a long, long time."

While there was dismay that Craig Revel-Horwood 'only' gave the dance a nine, unlike fellow judges Shirley, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke awarding it 10s.

On Saturday's show Dragons’ Den star Sara Davies was the seventh celebrity to be eliminated after performing with her dance partner Aljaz Skorjanec in the dance off against social media star Tilly Ramsay and her partner Nikita Kuzmin.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One on Saturday (November 20) at 6.35pm with Musicals Week.
