Rosario Dawson will voice Batgirl in The Lego Movie spin-off Lego Batman, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Will Arnett, who voiced the caped crusader in The Lego Movie, is returning once again. The Lego Batman film has been moved ahead of a sequel to the 2014 animated smash after the character proved a hit with audiences. The film is set to debut in 2017 with Lego Movie animation supervisor Chris McKay directing from a script by author-screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith.

Dawson, 36, will play the Barbara Gordon version of Batgirl. Gordon is the daughter of Batman’s regular Gotham City police department ally James Gordon in the comic books, and has featured in a number of famous storylines.

Dawson is no stranger to comic book fare, having played Old Town dominatrix Gail in Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller’s Sin City and Claire Temple/Night Nurse in Netflix’s Daredevil series. She has also voiced Wonder Woman in the straight to DVD animation Justice League: Throne of Atlantis.

Lego Batman is also due to feature voice work from Zach Galifianakis as the Joker and Michael Cera as Robin, the latter character making his first big screen appearance since 1997’s ill-fated Batman and Robin, according to reports.
