Rosanna Davison cancels her appearance at Julian Benson's ball after sons Oscar and Hugo fall ill

Rosanna Davison says her “family always comes first” as she cancelled her appearance at Julian Benson’s Winter Wonderland ball after her twin boys Hugo and Oscar developed a temperature.

The former Miss World said she was “devastated” she couldn’t go to the ball – which raises vital funds for CF sufferers – but she had to put her family first.

Rosanna had gotten ready earlier in the day but her twin boys, who were born in November 2020, were struck down with a mystery illness during the day.

She wrote on Instagram: “All dressed up… and nowhere to go! Got glammed up for the @jbcffoundation Winter Wonderland Ball this evening but Hugo and Oscar had been in poor form all day and both developed temperatures this evening.

“They wouldn’t settle to sleep at the normal time so stayed in to look after them. They only want mummy cuddles when sick and I can’t leave @wesquirke to cope alone. Family always comes first. Absolutely gutted to miss it though… big hugs @judge_jules_offic and hope the night is a huge success.”

Rosanna later updated fans saying: "Thanks for the lovely messages.. we've been up since 4:30am with Oscar but otherwise the twins are fine today - runny noses but temperatures back to normal. All snuggled up watching Jurassic Park!"

She jokingly added that her ponytail was still relatively intact.

The ball raised much needed funds for the Julian Benson Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and saw celebrity friends and supporters of Julian donning their glad rags for a glamorous evening of goodwill and entertainment in equal measure.

Since the charity’s inception in 2018, Julian has worked tirelessly to raise the money needed to purchase a house that families of CF patients can call a home away from home during lengthy hospital stays, and tonight, he announced plans to refurbish this house with the help of renovations supremo Dermot Bannon.

Julian knows first-hand the needs and challenges that people suffering with CF have to face, and how family and friends simply can’t visit regularly because of distance or end up sleeping on chairs in the hospital or incurring prohibitive hotel expenses – this house can help change that.

Claudine Keane, Roz Lipsett, the Dancing with the Stars cast were out in force with pro-dancers Karen Byrne and Laura Nolan, and Eurovision star and current DWTS contestant Brooke Scullion all attended the sparkly gala.

Social media superstar James Patrice, Jake Carter, Clementine Macniece, Elaine Crowley, Ryan and Michaela Andrews, Dermot Bannon, Gavin Duffy and glam host for the evening Lorraine Keane all walked the red carpet.

The 400 guests were treated to amazing performances from some of the Ireland’s most talented entertainers.

Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance who flew in for their only corporate event on Irish soil this year, award-winning percussion ensemble Extreme Rhythm Dancers, Fly Youth Dance Company, aerial artist Lisette Krol, Galway City Chamber Choir, The Honeydews and Bello Duo enthralled the audience on the night.

There was also an injection of 1950s glamour with an exquisite dance performance from The Blonde Bombshell – a reflection of the life of Hollywood superstar Marilyn Monroe.
